I want a Land Rover but don't know if it's good car to buy?????Is a Land Rover a good car to buy?
If you have a lot of extra $ laying around and nothing to spend it on, go for it. These are not cheap to own/operate.Is a Land Rover a good car to buy?
land rover is a great car, very safe, cant be outdriven in the snow or offroad, great interior, rich leather, awesome sound system.full time 4 wheel drive. very luxurious.
the downside is that they are expensive to maintain. they always tend to have oil leaks, and "quirky" problems, stuff that will nickel dime you to death. if you dont drive them at highway speeds alot then you can get into engine problems, which can be costly.also parts tend to be expensive.
the range rover is probably the highest to maintain, while the freelander was a major dissapointment, thats why they discontinued it.
the best one to own is the discovery, i own 2 series 1,1996 and 1995. the bodies on series 1 and 2 are mostly aluminum, so they tend to be "top heavy" but rest assured they have so much weight on the bottom "unsprung weight" there is no way they will tip over. i drive both mine over 100 mph and they are fine. granted it is a very heavy vehicle, its no sports car.ive also seen many of these trucks with over 200K miles and even a few with over 300k
people either love them or hate them, i hated them, then i work for/on them for 7 yrs now at a dealer, and i love them. i cant wait to get my next one.
all i can say, is go take one for a ride, youll find out quick wether its good enough for you. if you got extra cash you can spend, and money in the bank, then go for it! if not then i would highly recommend the toyota line. great company. hope it helps, and good luck.
ps these vehicles hold their value like no other. Is a Land Rover a good car to buy?
they're ok. nothing great. just don't get a discovery; they're top heavy and flip easy. get the range rover or freelander if you're gonna get one. quality isn't that great. mileage pretty much sucks for the power you get. they're more a status symbol than anything.
bottom line it's not junk but you can do better for the money.
Like the other ones said, if you have a bunch of cash. Repairs are astronomical (as with any other luxury car), and they're gas hogs. Also, I talked to a mechanic who claimed that they're one of the only engines that CAN blow out after 40k. I'd say no just because of the cost to maintain one.

What is the best gear to drive a land rover discovery in on local roads?
I'm afraid to do damage to the trans is it low on local and high on highwayWhat is the best gear to drive a land rover discovery in on local roads?
Drive in high always. Low is for low speed 4 wheel off road use only. What is the best gear to drive a land rover discovery in on local roads?
keep in third on local roads at least. downhill be in neutral to save your clutch and just use your brakes. Lower gears means more RPMs which means more ware and tare and less gas mileage. try not to downshift unless you have to stop.

As much as I like the looks of Land Rovers, I have read nothing but bad about thier reliablilty. You might want tocheck Consumaer Reports. Also, even Land Rover dedicated websites they spend a lot on repairs.Any thoughts on buying a Land Rover LR3 with 25K miles for $24K?
2005 Land Rover LR3-V8-4WD Utility 4D SE
I LOOKED UP THE CHEAPEST VERSION OF THE VEHICLE WITH NO OPTIONS AND THE LOWEST TRADE IN IS $30,000.
SO AT $24,000 I WOULD SAY THAT SOMETHING IS WRONG BECAUSE THIS PERSON IS LOOSING AT LEAST $6,000.

1999 Disco II, that way you get the TD5.Some opinions of the nineties land rover discovery?
They don't break down like nonowners claim them to be bec they are not equipped with much computer technology as the new Land Rovers. Some opinions of the nineties land rover discovery?
Rev B - the last (and only) Diso I ever looked at had leaking and complicated looking seals on the front axle where the steering pivots. Not a computer related issue at all.
Breaks down often, is expensive to repair and take awhile to get the parts.minn kota veganism

What are the other type of engine that can be fit into a 1991 land rover defender 110.?
preferably a diesel inline 4 cylinder.
2500 cc or 3000 cc.
the name of the manufacturer if available, model etc. What are the other type of engine that can be fit into a 1991 land rover defender 110.?
I don't know of any diesel V8's that will fit easily. A GM or Ford (IH) V8 will fit, but requires a lot of modifications.
The easiest would be a 300Tdi or IH Powerstroke 2.8 TDI (based on the 300TDi).
If you have an R380 5-speed gearbox it would be a nice setup. What are the other type of engine that can be fit into a 1991 land rover defender 110.?
Hi
it is up to you really i have seen a v8 fitted out of a range rover. a mitsubishi diesel is rated as the best. What are the other type of engine that can be fit into a 1991 land rover defender 110.?
Anything you want, if you have enough money. If not just replace it with the correct one.
Have you bothered with the Defender Forum?

I need an expert opinion, my Land Rover Discovery is having problems with the alarm?
Let me start offf at the beginning, we have had our Land Rover for about a month it has a little over 100,000 miles on it. My husband took it to get an oil change on Tuesday { this week} at Pep boys. Later that day he noticed that the blinkers were not working, but the emergency lights were. We also had alot of rain that day and he drove through a deep puddle that caused the Discovery to shut off for about 45 minutes. When he got it stared again it sounded good and ran fine. Later that evening we went grocery shopping and activated our alarm before we went in the store. When we disengaged the alarm we got in and I noticed the indicator light was still flashing, my husband got in and started the Discovery thinking that the light would stop blinking; but then the engine started knocking and it just cut off. We tried to get it to start again; we even had a mechanic come and look at it, they said it wasn't getting any fuel as part of the anti theft mechanism. Is it the computer?I need an expert opinion, my Land Rover Discovery is having problems with the alarm?
Sounds like a short somewhere is causing the anti-theft system to arm . Have you tried locking the doors manually then unlocking with the key? If that doesnt do it youve got an electrical issue that needs to be traced.I need an expert opinion, my Land Rover Discovery is having problems with the alarm?
sounds like the alarm is built into the body control computer which is having issues. You could try a hard reset by pulling the battery terminal off for a few minutes. if that doesn't work it may need a new body control computer.
