Is a Land Rover a good car to buy?

I want a Land Rover but don't know if it's good car to buy?????Is a Land Rover a good car to buy?
If you have a lot of extra $ laying around and nothing to spend it on, go for it. These are not cheap to own/operate.Is a Land Rover a good car to buy?
land rover is a great car, very safe, cant be outdriven in the snow or offroad, great interior, rich leather, awesome sound system.full time 4 wheel drive. very luxurious.

the downside is that they are expensive to maintain. they always tend to have oil leaks, and "quirky" problems, stuff that will nickel dime you to death. if you dont drive them at highway speeds alot then you can get into engine problems, which can be costly.also parts tend to be expensive.

the range rover is probably the highest to maintain, while the freelander was a major dissapointment, thats why they discontinued it.

the best one to own is the discovery, i own 2 series 1,1996 and 1995. the bodies on series 1 and 2 are mostly aluminum, so they tend to be "top heavy" but rest assured they have so much weight on the bottom "unsprung weight" there is no way they will tip over. i drive both mine over 100 mph and they are fine. granted it is a very heavy vehicle, its no sports car.ive also seen many of these trucks with over 200K miles and even a few with over 300k

people either love them or hate them, i hated them, then i work for/on them for 7 yrs now at a dealer, and i love them. i cant wait to get my next one.

all i can say, is go take one for a ride, youll find out quick wether its good enough for you. if you got extra cash you can spend, and money in the bank, then go for it! if not then i would highly recommend the toyota line. great company. hope it helps, and good luck.

ps these vehicles hold their value like no other. Is a Land Rover a good car to buy?
they're ok. nothing great. just don't get a discovery; they're top heavy and flip easy. get the range rover or freelander if you're gonna get one. quality isn't that great. mileage pretty much sucks for the power you get. they're more a status symbol than anything.

bottom line it's not junk but you can do better for the money.
Like the other ones said, if you have a bunch of cash. Repairs are astronomical (as with any other luxury car), and they're gas hogs. Also, I talked to a mechanic who claimed that they're one of the only engines that CAN blow out after 40k. I'd say no just because of the cost to maintain one.
