Are Land Rovers REALLY that capable off road? Do they really carry the name "land rover" well?

I know for a fact that the Land Rover Defender gets down and dirty anytime, anywhere I've seen that one perform off road and I was not disappointed. But about the Disco I and II and my personal favorite the Range Rover (4.6 HSE to be exact), are they as capable off road?? Or have they progressively lost their off road heritage due to market demand. Opinions?? Videos?? Fact?? Assumptions??

ThanksAre Land Rovers REALLY that capable off road? Do they really carry the name "land rover" well?
They are good off-road. Even the current models are fine.

The BBC Top Gear programme pitted the current Range Rover Sport against the British Army's Challenger II tank off-road and it didn't disappont. They also drove the current Disco to the top of a Scottish mountain.

They may have the look and feel of a modern SUV in order to appeal to that market, but these are still very capable off-road cars.
They used to be. But that was because they had a much heavier, more robust 4 wheel drive system. Now they've had the 4X4 capability "civilized" out of them, now they're just another overpriced luxury SUV. It's tragic; they used to be sooo good. Are Land Rovers REALLY that capable off road? They're junk. Of any car sold in the US, they have, by far, the highest rate of maintenance issues, repairs, breakdowns, etc. Overpriced British elitist garbage.
i asked this question in the jeeps sections awhile back

Land Cruiser ROCKS

Land Rover OVER RATED
If you bought it from here (USA) it is not 100% off road but if you imported, it is good in any 4x4 situation
