2000 Dodge Durango OR 2000 Land Rover Disovery Series II?

I'm a single mom of 4 kids, looking for a used 7 passenger vehicle that is not a van. I have driven both and love the discovery, but i also like the durango, however durangos are everywhere! Both used vehicles have about 90,000K on them but are in my current price range. I know their gas milage is similar. Anyone out there that has owned one or the other or better yet both? I have heard Land rovers are great and that they are crap - who knows the truth? I have driven 3 Discoverys from 1997 - 2002 and for some reason i just absolutely loved each of them - not sure why. My choice would be Land Rover. Dodge Durangos are so common, plus their styling has something to be desired. Land Rover does have a bit of prestige that the Durango does not have. I haven't owned either but I have known 2 people that have owned Land Rover and 1 person that owned a Durango. The Land Rover owners absolutely love theirs and the Durango owner seemed to just like it and what I mean is that the Durango owner didn't rave over his vehicle like the Land Rover owners did. It will be your vehicle and it will be your choice, so get either because both will make for nice vehicles but the Land Rover is a step above the Durango. Well, a guy I used to work with had a Dodge Durango. He was spending about $300 a month in GAS, that's $75 a week. That's horrible. I pay a little more than that for a car payment. :P



I know you want something used, but I would seriously go to a Hyundai dealership and check out their Santa Fe's. I'm sure you could get the older body style 2006 model for a good price.



The new style Santa Fe, you can buy a third row to seat 7 people.



Anyway, these are really nice cars and you get a 10 year/100,000 mile warranty and they have GREAT resale value.

I own a 2003 Land Rover Discovery Series II and I love it. The maintenance will cost more, and at the mileage you are describing it will come sooner rather than later. When I hear Durangoes that are a few years old the engine sounds rougher to me. You say you love the Discovery...then that's your answer! :-) Good luck!
