Why is the AC not working right in my Land Rover Freelander?

Most of the time it blows, but not cold. and very, very rarely it works fine. and some other times the compressor keeps goin on and off so it blows cold for a few seconds then hot, then cold, then hot again. I know there's freon in it cuz as I said it blows cold sometimes. so what's the deal? Why is the AC not working right in my Land Rover Freelander?
you really need to hook up gauges to determine what the problem is here.

best guess without knowing system pressures would be a faulty low side pressure switch or wiring to the switch. this switch will cause the compressor to cycle as in "the compressor keeps goin on and off".

and not cycle on when "it blows, but not cold".

get at least a gauge for the low side and add readings for more info.
low on freon or it could be th a/c cycling switch. it tells the compressor to engage. Why is the AC not working right in my Land Rover Freelander?
ONE POSSIBLE REASONS THE SYSTEM NEEDS TO BE FLUSHED OUT AND HE GAS REPLACED

IF YOU DO NOT USE THE SYSTEM FOR A LENGTH OF TIME THE SEALS DRY OUT AND THE GAS ESCAPES

THEN YOU GET THE ON OFF SYNDROME
low freon or high or low pressure swich is going to be your problem if it low on freon you have a leak and will have to find it first. you can find the high and low pressure switches under the hood . if thats not the problem then check the doors on the inside of the ac fresher air or out vent open at times this could a vacumn problem or some of these vehicles have electric accuated doors one of them could be bad.Why is the AC not working right in my Land Rover Freelander?
HAVE A TRUSTED INDEPENDENT A/C REPAIR SHOP FIRST CHECK IF YOU EVEN HAVE FREON IN THE SYSTEM AND ONCE THAT IS DETERMINED THEY CAN PERFORM A COMPLETE A/C SYSTEM LEAK CHECK.

BUT I WOULD THINK THAT SINCE IT BLOWS COLD AND THEN HOT, IT COULD HAVE VERY HIGH PRESSURE, OR THE COOLING FAN IS NOT WORKING CORRECTLY.

IF YOU ARE CERTAIN THAT THE PRESSURES ARE PERFECT AND EVERYTHING ELSE IS WORKING CORRECTLY THEN IT WOULD HAVE TO BE INTERNAL.
Did it just start acting this way after winter? I'm thinking the switch may be boogered up.
