How much, around, should it be to rebuild the engine of a 96' Land rover discover?

it would be really spendy, I would try locating a used motor, with low miles, and have a certified land mech put it in. Is it the 4.0 v8 and did the head gasket go? If so just rebuild the heads, and replace the gaskets, and go through the top end, as long as the crank and pistons are good, you can save money that way as well. The whole motor, to rebuild, is cheaper to find a used engine. How much, around, should it be to rebuild the engine of a 96' Land rover discover?
Depends on whether your crank and pistons are still good. I just spent $325 on a rebuild kit from carquest for a '91 Chevy 350. Rings, bearings, gaskets, etc. Turns out we needed to get the cylinders boared (sp?) and replace the pistons. Ended up being $550 by the end. We did the work ourselves. The cheapest replacement engine we found was $500 and it needed to be rebuilt anyway so in the long run it was cheaper to rebuild the damn thing. Carquest was cheapest. Try them.
