Going to buy a 1998 Land Rover Discovery is it a good idea ?

I know it has a V8 and gass is not my concern but like people tell me they are expensive if they brake down but isnt any other car like it my uncle has a Chevy tahoe and his spark plugs come up 8$ each and for the rover came up 7$ each

High end foreign cars are hard to get parts for when the break down. Spark plugs are not made specifically for one vehicle, so judging how expensive parts are by spark plugs is not going to show how hard it is to get parts for a foreign car. Parts for Chevys are easier to find because they are american made, there are lots of used motors and transmissions in junk yards you can get cheap. How many land Rovers are you going to find in junk yards? Not many, because Land Rovers are not common cars. Anything that is 11 years old is going to have problems and a ton of miles.
they was real good vehicles when they was new or under 140 thousand miles but after that they start to get expensive to repair,a friend of mine bought a used one to drive back and forth to work and it had about 150 k on it and the transmission went out,they wanted around 3500.00 bucks for a rebuilt transmission for it and that's more than he paid for the vehicle,so have it checked out really good because they are really expensive to repair,good luck.Going to buy a 1998 Land Rover Discovery is it a good idea ?
Don't do it!!!! Sorry, they are expensive when they break down, and in my experiance they break down more often than they are worth. Try for a Mitsubishi motero or Isuzu trooper, they can look similar and are a little more less expensive to own.

Run. Run fast. The best alternative to suggest would be a toyota land cruiser.
