What have YOUR experiences been with the Land Rover LR2?

We are in need of another car, and this one is a possibility. The only reason we hesitate is because we have heard some bad things about the reliability (and the gas mileage is pretty bad). I did some research and some people have had perfect experiences with their's while others have had the typical bad experience. What is your personal experience with this car?What have YOUR experiences been with the Land Rover LR2?
my dad had an LR2 2 years back. the car is perfect for the first few years, but when you get past like 5 years with the car, everything goes downhill. he had major mechanical problems right after about 60,000 miles. things began to rattle and shake in the car and there were constant leaks coming from under the car. im not sure on full details, but it was the the extent that he just gave up and got a new acura RX SUV. i love the new acura, you can get them for the price of a used land rover and they last forever! my mom has had her TL for 8 years, no problems!
