How do you remove the ignition lock cylinder from a 1999 Land Rover Discovery II?

I am trying to avoid having to pay 600 bucks for a new ignition cylinder by doing it myself. The key perfectly fits into the ignition, but does not turn to start the vehicle. so, i'm trying to take out the cylinder to bring it to my friend who is a locksmith, who can match up the pins in the cylinder to the key, but i need help taking it out. so, please if you can give me a detailed response, it would be helpful. ASAP please! How do you remove the ignition lock cylinder from a 1999 Land Rover Discovery II?
Rover ignitions are pinned in and not for amateurs. Let your friend do it before you really cause yourself some expense. It is a common problem on these ignitions, he should be able to handle it well under $600.How do you remove the ignition lock cylinder from a 1999 Land Rover Discovery II?
In general, most are removed by pressing in a tiny (really tiny) pin, located about 2" back from whee the key goes in, and usually located on the opposite side so the driver will not see it....crawl under the wheel and look for a hole about 1/8" in dia....put a small drill bit or maybe a phillips screwdriver...a real small one...in and push, and extract the cylinder by tugging on it.
