Teen behind the wheel of a 2003/2004 Land Rover Range Rover? What do you think?

Whats your opinion on that? The teen is mature, isnt the type that would risk his safety or anyone elses' safety, good driving skills, doesnt drink (never even had one, or will have one, his own words) or do drugs. The reason for the Range Rover specificly is the superior handling in different situation. Its just legendary. I also heard safety is huge, almost on par to that of Volvo. I think that if he is not already considered a high faluting, snotty, snobby, thinks his crap don't stink type, he soon will be once he starts driving a land rover.

If he wrecks it he wont die...good choice
I think it's fine. A person who is responsible can be given responsibilities. Go for it.Teen behind the wheel of a 2003/2004 Land Rover Range Rover? What do you think?
Is the teen trying to convince someone to help buy this car for them, or just to let them use it?

If it's the former, I'd say no. A driving age teen has plenty of other big expenses coming their way. Not only are you looking at 15-18K for the car itself, but insurance, maintenance and fuel costs will be high. Something older and smaller will be a better value (believe me, gas prices will go back up again), and there are plenty of cars that perform well and have decent safety ratings.

It's great that the teen is cautious and doesn't use alcohol or other drugs. However, the problem is lack of experience. Unless said teen started driving at 8 years old, they just haven't been exposed to enough different situations on the road, and superior handling is only helpful if the driver knows from long experience exactly what to do.

If someone in the family already has the range rover- the teen will probably wind up driving it eventually.
