The Land Rover factory is based in the West Midlands in England. Yes is is and always will technically be a British car company, but was at one point owned by BMW who really only wanted the air suspension design to put in their vehicles, then sold on to FORD.
In 1988 British Aerospace bought Rover Group (which includes Land-Rover). Rover Group was sold to BMW in 1994.
In April 2000, BMW announced that it would break up and sell Rover, selling Land Rover (to Ford), keeping the new Mini, and selling the rest of the car section to an investment company `Alchemy' which would make and sell sports cars under the `MG' name (the British government was not pleased!). By late April, the Alchemy deal may have fallen through with a rival `Phoenix' group, led by an ex-Rover executive, still in the race.
Scottish born has the most detailed info, but the short version is they are a UK company, who used to be affiliated with BMW but is now part of Ford's corporate umbrella under what they call their premium identity brands, along with Aston Martin, Jaguar (both British), and Volvo. Of all of Ford's aquisitions, Land Rover has managed to stay the most independent in terms of parts sharing, so they are still much like they have always been.

At what mileage would it no longer be good to buy a used land rover range rover at?
ive found 2 online so far that i may be interested in
-im looking at 1997 specifically with about 115,000 on it for about $4,000.

Sounds like theres not enough fuel to turn the engine over and system will need bleeding through.

diesel like to have a pressurized system if you ran it to the point it was out of fuel (I hope you did not ruin the pump) you will need to look under the hood for a schrader valve ( like a tire valve stem) and (use safety glasses as fuel is high pressure and will spray) and have someone turn it over and you bleed the air out of the system if no pressure builds up you may need a new pumprestaurants in chicago justin bieber phone number
