I have recently brought a bull bar for a defender, however it is quite old and the paint is peeling in a couple of places, I was wondering what paint to use to repaint these bits? What paint do they use on the official Land Rover Defender bull bars?
the paint that they use on the land rovers and range rovers is lincolns high quality paint its almolst sorta like cadillac paint volvo also use the same and jaguar they are owned by ford built by ford i found this out when i took a tour of the ford car plant in gorgeia i saw jags volvos land rovers range rovers being maid right befor my eyes it was amzaing. on the outside of atlanta belive me ive done my homework they are american cars iv enen investigated the paint process on the volvos ,jaguars, and licolons and land rovers ther all the same grade and qaulity of paint

What is a better choice between a Jeep Cherokee and a Land Rover and why?
My wife and I are planning a family and are trying to decide between the 2. 4 wheel drive is a must have. Please give as much detail as possible. What is a better choice between a Jeep Cherokee and a Land Rover and why?
It depends on how much actual off-roading you will be doing. If you just want the 4wd for inclimate whether and stuff then the jeep is probably the better choice.
If you will be taking the thing out and doing some serious off-roading i'd probably go with the land rover. Keep in mind though, land rover mechanics are kind of hard to find - you could be stuck going to the dealer, but as long as you don't mind that.
If you are planning a family, you might want to start with something a little cheaper. Nothing tears families apart quite as quickly as huge payments. Keep in mind that a 4wd vehicle is going to automatically be heavier, less fuel efficient, and you will have a whole extra drive train and transfer case to maintain.
Not to mention, I was out in New Mexico last year, driving along in the mountains, and every mile or so, there was a 4wd pickup or suv stuck off the side of the road. Meanwhile, my wifes front wheel drive focus ZX-5 handled beautifully. I laughed while watching the guy in the blazer behind me scream as his truck slid one way, then spun around and slid the other way. Just take your time, and get there alive. What is a better choice between a Jeep Cherokee and a Land Rover and why?
Maintainece fees. Brakes on a Land Rover cost $500 to replace. Think about it...What is a better choice between a Jeep Cherokee and a Land Rover and why?
They are both good vehicles. While Rover is owned by Ford, you would never guess it from the price tag. Even routine maintenance will be much more costly than the Jeep and if it ever requires parts, you will have more difficulty finding them and pay significantly more than comparable parts for the Rover.
Lastly, consider the number of locations with the tools and manuals to work on the two vehicles. Unless money is not an issue to you, I'd definitely recommend the Jeep.
You're almost comparing apples and oranges. A Jeep Cherokee will run you around $30-$35k while a Land Rover can easily be $50k. A more comparable vehicle to the Cherokee is the Ford Explorer.
Likewise, maintenance and future repair costs are higher on the Land Rover as well. On the same level, the Land Rover is a much nicer vehicle. The material, parts, and design are higher grade than the Cherokee. Your off-road capability, including snow and ice, will be mostly impacted by your tires then probably any kind of stability control system.
As someone in the auto industry, I can say that vehicles today are very complicated with all the electronics and computers. I would not take my own car anywhere else but the dealership since they do have the diagnostic equipment from the factory.
If price is not a big factor, I'd go with the Land Rover. I personally prefer the Ford Explorer over the Cherokee if you're in the $30k price range. The Explorer has standard Roll Stability Control, available 4-wheel drive, ABS, Side Airbags, Navigation, Satellite Radio and a 5-year/60,000 mile Powertrain Warranty that covers Roadside Assistance in case you ever get stuck, out of gas, flat tire, dead battery, etc.

How to fit a Land Rover Freelander 2 Towbar?
Hey there, i am looking for instructions to fit a towbar to a freelander 2. If anyone knows how to do this, i would appreciate it, any help is appreciated and would most like a pdf which will show me how to do this? How to fit a Land Rover Freelander 2 Towbar?
not too sure about the freelander 2 but on the 1, it goes like this:-
3 bolts on each side and 2 going upwards into the metal part of the bumper,
the tow ring doesnt need to be removed,
youll find 3 bolts just in front of the tow ring and the holes for 3 more exactly opposite.
about a third of the way across the metal part of the bumper is a small sticker, this is where the vertical bolt goes in, and another about a third from the opposite side.
then its just a case of bolting on, dont forget the tread lock on the boltsHow to fit a Land Rover Freelander 2 Towbar?

car seat should have a picture of how your seat belt should be lace thru this should help and you can always ask a cop they will be glad to help you get it rightHow do i fix rear seat belts to inward facing seats in a land rover?
If they are proper land rover seats then the lap belts fixings should bolt to the same position as the seat mountings
It is already illegal. You cant remove the seats and put them in another spot. The floors are reinforced where the seats bolt down. Changing them will only cause law suits for you if someone is hurt while riding in the screwy vehicle.

I have just purchased a used 2001 land rover discoveries II.. is it hard to install the seats?
I want to make it a 7 passenger but dont know how hard it would be to install them and about how long it would take.Has anyone evr tried this process before? The jump seats are fairly inexpensive and i was just wondering. Thanks!I have just purchased a used 2001 land rover discoveries II.. is it hard to install the seats?
It is pretty easy. I bought my car and the interior was horrible so I had to replace the floor and all the seats in it and it only took about 4 hours. The seats only took about 2 hours to do.(replacing 2 bucket seats and 1 bench.) Good luck!

Why is the Land Rover Defender, the British Army's Light Armoured Vehicle?
The soldiers are complaining about how bad they are and that they are not Armoured enough. Why don't they have an Armoured Range Rover of Discovery instead of an old Defender?
The US has a Humvee as their equivalent.
Britain has the 3rd largest defense budget so they could easily to have a Range Rover or Discovery instead for the defender/wolf.Why is the Land Rover Defender, the British Army's Light Armoured Vehicle?
a range rover is the up market land rover (with air con, sat nav etc.), the car and chassis are the same. they use the defender (the armoured version is known as the 'Snatch') because it is much better off road and far more reliable. in the gulf, some were reported to have been overturned and still worked when they were turned back over. the US humvee suffers the same problem as the Snatch. both are designed to defend troops from small arms fire and cant protect against IEDs and multiple RPG hits. the army is replacing the Snatches with better armoured vehicles but in regards to our defense budget. we are currently building aircraft carriers similar in size to the US Nimitz class and have ordered a load of F35s and Typhoons. this is more important than replacing land rovers that are extremely reliable and good at what they were designed for. the role they are given in iraq and afghanistan is not what they were designed for, a range rover would not help. Why is the Land Rover Defender, the British Army's Light Armoured Vehicle?
Probably bid low for the government contract and it is a Brit company is it not? or was. The Humvee was no winner in the beginning either. Our guys were going out and making homemade armor for their hummers.
