Should I buy a new Land Rover Defender or wait for the Iveco Massif to be launched in the UK?

Just as above (and J.G a very reliable and informative person) Ivecos are awful, awful things. Hopelessly unreliable, terribly built and a waste of space. A Defender is a fairly old fashioned and acquired vehicle but pretty well built and awesome off road.

I've just been on Iveco's site, it looks a piece of crap to be honest. It has all round leaf springs, and I've driven Iveco vans with the 3.0 engine - they are horrendous on fuel %26amp; very unreliable.
If you need a Defender because of work %26amp; towing, I'd stick with it or try a Japanese vehicle, but I'd give the Iveco a wide berth.

I bought a Land Rover discovery in May. We paid what the retail value is currently. The trade in value online is 7-8 thousand less than the retail ( which I know happens) but we have been offered less than 1/2 of the retail because " no one wants them" Any suggestions on where to sell it other than local paper? ANyone used Ebay? We would like to get at least what book trade in value is for it!! It has become our 2nd car, so we want to get rid of the payment, since we don't use it much now. HELP! We want to get the most we can out of it, but want to sell it %26amp; not let it sit.What is up with Land Rover?

If its the heat shield that's rattling then its okay, if not and the rattling in inside the converter it needs replaced. This can be checked and usually a muffler shop will do it for free. 1998 Land Rover Discovery Power Seats and Radio Not Working?
On my 98 Disco both the passenger and driver side seats arent working. I couldn't locate a fuse for it but I noticed a bunch of relays under neath driver side seat. Could one of them control the power seats. If so, which one?
Also my radio is not turning on at all. I do even see the clock displaying on it. Is there a fuse behind the radio? Because I checked the fuse under the dash and that was fine.1998 Land Rover Discovery Power Seats and Radio Not Working?

Discoverys are crap. My father has owned two and neither of them are any good. Always something breaking down on them. 4 Runners are 1,000 times better. I remember a popular car magazine calling the Land Rover Discovery "The truck that will get you there, but might not get you back." The prices on the Discovery are attractive but there's a reason for their super low resale value. They aren't reliable and their parts are very expensive. Have you driven it yet? It feels like the front seats are too close to the doors. The 4 Runner is kinda narrow too but at least it has enough shoulder room for anyone. Still, the 4 Runner would get my nod.
Update: In response to another answer, the Discovery should be more luxurious. It was costing $50,000 when the 4 Runner was $30,000. However, look at the prices now. Look at what 2003 models are selling for. The 4 Runner only costs 2-3000 less to buy. That's a big difference from $20,000 brand new. Sounds like theres not enough fuel to turn the engine over and system will need bleeding through.

This is a very large scale scam. This isn't the first company in the list of frauds. These companies have been identified as fraud by govt bodies and people all over are being warned not to send in cash/credit card/personal/financial details. I got a similar letter today here in New Delhi,India asking for Rs. 1000/- as Assignment fees. Stamped from Singapore, money to be sent to UK, that too, in cash, to some R. D. Rosenbohm, Director in Chief, with no phone no, email etc to contact. Please ignore all such mailers, shread them right away.I got a letter in the post saying i won a land rover 2008 series or $42,000 cash the company is called interna
I stay in Bangalore, India...I also got a similar letter saying that I have won a Land Rover. It asks me to pay INR 1000...interestingly (and cunningly) in cash. In this letter, there is no mention of contact number, email id or website of this "International Property Disposition" that have sent this letter to me...shrewd again. I am not falling in this trap. ;-)

If you send the money they will mark you as a mug, and then ask for shipping cost, insurance, %26amp;c. %26amp;c. until you get wise. Same thing as the "Tarmac your drive" merchants really
